I’ve never been a big fan of subbing carob out for chocolate, let’s face it, it just doesn’t taste the same.
However, that doesn’t mean I don’t think carob is worthwhile in it’s own right.
Our latest treat here at my house is Hot Carob.
Proclaimed better than Hot Chocolate by my son.
1 Heaping Tablespoon of roasted carob powder
1- 1 1/2 Tablespoons honey, to taste (carob is somewhat sweet, so start low and up the honey as needed
1/4 1/8 teaspoon powdered cinnamon
1-2 teaspoon vanilla extract (I’m sure if you haven’t just started a new jar of vanilla glycerite you’d only need 1, mine’s still a bit weak.)
Coconut milk/cream or non-dairy milk to taste (the version inspiring the aforementioned rave review utilized rice milk)
And of course boiling hot water.
Place all of the ingredients except the milk and water in the bottom of your mug and stir together well. Pour in an inch or so of boiling water and stir well. Add milk to your taste and top off with more boiling water.
